The new work I have been putting together has been a focus on a look from the past. Though some manipulation has been used on some photographs most has relied on old techniques, old film and some unorthodox darkroom techniques. The result have given a look I have been very happy with. A look I feel is reminiscent of the old dauragatype photography from the past centuries. The content has been from my trip to Southwest Kansas to the area I live for many years. The edge of the border of Kansas, Oklahoma and New Mexico has tried to forget the Dustbowl of the 30s for which it truly was ground zero for one of the worst man made disasters in American History. The combination of greed, ignorance and drought turned one of the most beautiful areas in this country into a waste land. This can still be seen and felt today in my trip back to ground zero. Today the ground has been plowed and dosed with so many chemicals and the aquifer has been drained to dangerous level that the area again teeters on the edge of disaster again. Without the corporate farms continuous attention to the land this area will not grow much of anything and all it would take would be a hard wind and no planting because of economic hard times to bring back the black blizzards.
Much like the southwest the inner city of Kansas City MO and KCK is a sad commentary on greed, ignorance neglect. Allot of my new photos focus on this. It is a tough world out there without a 401k or a decent paying job and if you have no job well it is unthinkable. The freeways are full of SUVs and luxury cars and even people who are trying to do the right thing and be green and economical but the poverty continues and the violence associated with it carries on. Drug addiction and alcoholism the main diversion from these conditions exacerbates the problems  even worse.

What shall we do What shall we do...
